The name “Völva” is derived from the Old Norse word vǫlr, meaning "staff-bearer." Historically, the völva was a revered spiritual figure in Norse mythology, a symbol of wisdom and power. In adopting this name, the band pays tribute to the women persecuted during the witch hunts and stands as a defiant voice against the hypocrisy of oppressive systems.
With music that burns like hellfire and lyrics steeped in Satanic feminism, Völva seeks not only to create but to confront. Their journey has been one of transformation, marked by lineup changes that have forged a tighter, more powerful unit.
